Snapped the twig that fell from tree
with leaf it could not shake,
beneath a boot quite silently
the ancient wood did break.
Went a walk unknowing
from door to sheltered field,
The forest floor still growing
Not knowing how to yield.
Broke The Hearts that cradled Hope
which from each other tore,
their fragile future built bespoke
that they could beat no-more.
Back to Earth unseen, un-mourned
from womb to ashen grey,
the marble stone of days not dawned
to mark A Winters Day.
